Japanese delegation visits Selmo and Raitec, highlighting global trust, Industry 4.0 innovation, digital twins, and advanced automation solutions.

Selmo recently attended the Transformation Business Talk – Rethinking Value: Data and Resources in the Twin Transition, organized by ACstyria in Graz, Austria.

The event brought together industry professionals, technology experts, and innovation leaders to discuss how digitalization and sustainability are reshaping business models, value creation, and competitiveness across Europe.

One of the most engaging topics was Data Sovereignty, which explored how organizations can maintain control over their data while balancing innovation, compliance, and collaboration. Discussions highlighted the growing importance of data governance, regulatory requirements, cloud dependency, and the strategic risks associated with vendor lock-in. A particularly interesting perspective was the idea that data sovereignty is no longer only a compliance issue—it is becoming a foundation for efficiency, innovation, and long-term business resilience.

„The discussion on Data Sovereignty was particularly inspiring. It demonstrated that data governance is no longer just a technical topic but a strategic business issue. The session provided valuable insights into how organizations can strengthen innovation and competitiveness while maintaining control over their data.” — Geovana Vilaverde-Reinbacher, Marketingleiterin bei Selmo Technology GmbH

Another key theme was the role of Digital Product Passports (DPPs) and their impact on data exchange across supply chains. Presentations emphasized how DPPs can improve transparency, trust, and collaboration between manufacturers, suppliers, customers, and certification bodies while supporting future regulatory requirements and sustainability goals.

The event also covered topics such as sensor fusion, platform economies, and digital ecosystems, demonstrating how organizations are leveraging data-driven approaches to create new opportunities and improve resource efficiency.

Beyond the presentations, the event offered valuable networking opportunities. Conversations with professionals from different organizations provided new perspectives on current market developments, digital transformation challenges, and emerging technologies. These exchanges reinforced the importance of collaboration and knowledge-sharing within the innovation ecosystem.

For Geovana, the most impactful session was the discussion on data sovereignty. The presentation raised thought-provoking questions about ownership, governance, trust, and competitiveness in an increasingly connected digital landscape. It highlighted that organizations must not only collect data but also understand how to strategically manage and protect it.

Events like the Transformation Business Talk demonstrate how dialogue, collaboration, and shared expertise are essential for navigating the Twin Transition and building a more sustainable and digitally enabled future.
