A Reflection on My Time at Selmo – by Intern Marco

After graduating from the Federal Academy of Commerce in Liezen, I had the opportunity to work as an intern at Selmo. The internship primarily focused on the business side (management, marketing, sales, etc.), but during my time at Selmo, I was also able to explore other departments, including technical areas such as product development. With a business-oriented education, I had no prior experience in software development or industrial automation. However, my time at Selmo allowed me to build a foundational knowledge in these areas and gain valuable insights into how the industry operates overall.

What I liked most during the internship:

What I enjoyed the most was the innovative work environment, the strong team spirit, and the hands-on nature of the tasks. Every day brought new challenges and exciting projects, like working with the Selmo Studio, where I got to try modeling my first machine. The open and supportive work environment made it easy for me to ask questions, learn new things, and fully engage in the work.

My conclusion:

My internship at Selmo not only helped me grow professionally but also gave me broad insights into various departments and the industry as a whole. I find this especially important in helping to figure out what truly interests you and in which areas you can imagine working. I learned how crucial it is for the industry to anchor precise processes in machine programming to prevent errors that often lead to unexplained downtime. The internship was a great opportunity to gain practical experience and collect many valuable insights.
